the old man
Once upon a time there was an old man, almost blind and deaf, his knees trembling. When he sat down to eat, he could barely hold the spoon. He poured the soup on the tablecloth, and when he finally got his mouth shut, he always let the corner drop a little. His son and his daughter-in-law thought it was crap and they were disgusted. Finally they ended up making the old man sit in a corner behind the stove. They brought him food in a clay bowl, and what was worse did not give him enough. The old man stared at the table with his long eyes, often filled with tears.
One day his hands shook so hard he dropped the bowl and it broke. The woman scolded him, who did not say anything, only sighed. Then she bought a very cheap wooden bowl and that was where he had to eat. One day, when they were all sitting in the kitchen, the old man's grandson, who was a four-year-old boy, was playing with bits of wood. What are you doing? Asked his father. I'm making a trough so Dad and Mom can eat when I grow up, "the boy replied. The husband and wife looked at each other for some time and burst into tears. After that, they brought the grandfather back to the table. Since then they have all eaten together, and even when the old man spilled something, nobody said anything.
